Sightline Story
I was born almost completely blind so don’t really know life any different than what I do now. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic I would attend Bradbury Fields which provides support to blind, partially sighted and people living with dual sensory impairments.
I live on my own but have 4 fantastic children who are great and ensure I’m well cared for. I am really lucky that I have visits every day but am conscious that they have their own lives to lead too.
I followed a career in radios after leaving school and really enjoy rebuilding old ones and still do to this very day. I am part of several radio clubs and keep in touch with people this way which alleviates some of the isolation and loneliness being blind can carry with it.
Sharing my love of radio messages from all over the world with my Sightline telephone befriender has provided a great topic of conversation!
We both also chat about the world in general and in particular our love of Liverpool.
