Sightline is very pleased to welcome Peter Booth as he joins the charity on the Board of Trustees.
I am very pleased to have joined Sightline as trustee in September 2022. Firstly, its offices are currently in Galloways, where as a child I played on the lawn by sneaking through the hedge!
I come now through the main entrance as an Optometrist with many years’ experience of sight loss and the trauma it brings in its wake. Where I couldn’t help with glasses, I hope to help support Sightline as it brings a telephone befriending service to those who are visually impaired.
Although in my seventies, I am not retired as I continue in optometry, volunteering in many third world countries testing eyes and supplying donated spectacles.
I work with International Aid Trust in many countries, including Ukraine, where I hope to visit at the earliest opportunity. I also continue to work with Sight Aid International in East Africa along with Sightline’s Chair of Trustees, Peter Howard.
When 17 I nearly died in a road accident; this coupled with my Christian faith motivates me to serve.
